My stomach is doing somersaults, my chicken and sweet potatoes are on the stove and my playlist is ready. My clothes are clean and my shoes are ready to go.
Since May 1, I have run 407 km – or roughly the distance between Saint John and Halifax. I’m as ready as I’ll ever be to run this half-marathon.
Today after I picked up my bib number, I purchased some last-minute running gear, which should have me covered rain or shine. Environment Canada is calling for showers with a risk of thundershowers, but not more than four millimetres of rain should fall. Just in case, I thought I’d pick up a hat. Also, I didn’t have any decent sporty shades, so I got some wicked ripzone ones.
My last task for tonight, other than drinking water and resting my muscles, was to make a killer playlist. And I mean killer.
The object of my workout playlists is to create a non-stop dance party in my head. So the music pumps me up and makes me want to run even more. Of course, the challenge (at the beginning of the race) will be to make sure I don’t run too fast.
I bought six new songs on iTunes tonight:
– Some Nights by Fun.
– Where Have You Been by Rihanna
– Too Close by Alex Clare
– I Can’t Stop by Flux Pavilion (I’m saving this one for the end!)
– Touch the Sky by Kanye West (iTunes sale on Kanye music!)
– Take You Higher (Club Mix) by Goodwill & Hook N Sling
My goal is just to finish, to relax and enjoy the race. See you at the finish line!
